I leave you with....

I still don't know how to put my pics in order, but you get the idea. These confetti cookies from Fred's Bakery across the street are what's getting us through today's round of moving.

This is another batch of potpourri that I've got going. This box has been drying outside and I can already tell that the petals are keeping their color a lot better that the ones I dried inside.

Well, blogging will be down for aboot a week or so. I'm dismantling my office and whatnot tonight. Catch you on the flipside..........

The Gnome Stretch.

Packing is getting intense, but we're nearing the finish line. Man, it seems impossible to get to bed before 1am these past few weeks. I'm still complaining about the time change - how pathetic is that. I can't wait to just be done with this move and then hibernate for a few days. But actually, I know that's not gonna happen cuz I'll be un-packing and organizing for days and then I'll just wanna get to crafting!!

Anyways, I just adore this Gnome printed fabric. It would make a cute little smock-style apron.

Flan, Roses, and Bunny Rabbits

I'm eating my El Pollo Loco Flan as I'm typing this entry. Pretty tasty for a ghetto dessert.
Anyways, I took this photo on my cameraphone yesterday. My cousins and I went to an aquarium store to look for a pet snake (for my cousin Fernando) and they had two bunny rabbits there for some reason. Anyhoo, how cute is this little tan guy relaxing on his friend. Look at his little hind legs!! They are sooo adorable, I just wanna eat them like marshmallow peeps.

This is my box of potpourri that I've been drying for a couple of weeks. They're rose petals from all the different types of roses that grow in our garden. It smells amazing! I think I'll be using it in the Mother's Day baskets I'm making for my mom, my grandma, and my cousin . Actually, I think I'll be sending a package of it off to my friend Nate too! It just needs another good week or so of drying.

Oh Crewel World!

I'm embarassed to say this was the state of my studio a few days ago. Packing and moving really wreaks havoc on everything. Right now, all my crafting/sewing stuff is in limbo. Some of it's here, and some of it's over at the loft.

Of all the times to get into Crewel.

My mom just got me this awesome book called The New Crewel. Then, she pulls out all these crewel projects and supplies that she's had for over 20 years! She's the crafting queen and has done it all. She gave me some projects that she had started and never got a chance to finish -cuz she had my bro and me! Anyways, I'll post pics of them in progress - I can't wait to start on them. She also gave me this other embroidery-ish type project that I'm VERY excited about. I can't really explain what it is yet, but I've never seen it before. Alas, this will all have to be on hold till we are settled.

Monday Night Club

I went to Phil's office again on Monday night to hang out with him while he worked. It was fun but everyone had deadlines and I was really tired. I actually fell asleep on his cubicle floor for a minute - it was very comfortable.

No - that's not me one the floor, that's Tim. He's a storyboard artist. This picture was taken at around 10:15pm! Next week, I'll post pics of Sam. He's in the cube next to Tim, probably in the same position under his desk.

I occupied myself by marveling at their art supply room and touching all the pens and pencils that they have at their diposal. It was awesome.

Christmas in April - literally!

Today I got to see my good friend Lisa. We used to work togther and have not been able to get togther for quite a while. That is evident by the fact that she just gave me my Christmas present today, and I just gave her her bday present - even though it was last month!! She gave me a couple of beautiful Christmas ornaments, Creme Caramel scented bath flakes, and a Sephora lip gloss ball! So sweet! Hopefully we will get to see eachother more often - but she is way far away..............in Burbank. Will the busyness of life ever stop?

When I got to my office after visiting with Leese, I had another great surprise. My Gidget DVD had arrived. 32 episodes on 4 discs! I know Sandra Dee was the OG Gidget - but Sally Field is the one I grew up watching re-runs of. I used to get such good ideas from her wardrobe and I would always try to tape episodes. Now I've got them all in one place. I feel a marathon coming - once we get moved in!!!!

2 Things

Here's two things making me happy right now. One: the birdfeeder outside my studio window is actually being visited!!!!!!

And two: this flat sheet from Urban Outfitters that hangs in my studio. I had an outfit with this same heart design when I was a kid.

No time for crafting

Well, as the title says - no time for crafting lately. But my mind is swirling with all the things I'm going to do once we get settled in the loft.

Anyways, just thought I'd post something I bought on Etsy recently. It's by an artist named Emily and her Etsy shop is called The Black Apple Her paintings are amazing!!! (Hey Nate - she's from Georgia!) I love every single one - they're eerie and adorable at the same time. I had to have this one because I know I had that sweater when I was little.
Well, gotta continue packing. My boyfriend is working in his studio down the hall and I can hear him watching Trainspotting.

Roses are Red

I have'nt had much to show in the way of crafting these past couple of days. I've been working a lot, trying to pack and organize, and SLEEP! I've actually been working on this shirt for my brother - it's more of a costume I guess. I'll post a pic when I'm finished - but it's got to be on somebody for it to work. It's for his big birthday bash this Saturday.

Also, our friend Todd Carey is playing a solo set at Hotel Cafe this friday. He's an amazing singer/musician. Come check it out if you live in L.A.

Well, I'll just leave you with this picture of a ginormous rose I picked in my garden today....

First rule of Model Club - don't talk about Model Club

These are Phils two friends Sam (L) and Tim (R). It's 8:15pm and the 3 of them are still at work!!! I'll bet they're painting models or something like that - Tau armies and whatnot. Maybe they will let me post pictures of their finished pieces.

Chalktacular

These photos are a little out of order, but oh well. This is the giant chalkboard wall at my boyfriend's office. It's located in the common area. It's a place for all the artists to write or draw whatever they want. They're mostly silly or rude things about eachother. Of course I had to write my blog name up there.

I also tagged my brother's blog up there. Spicy Ninja Fortress is the name of one of his blogs. Check it out - it's wicked hilarious!

Take your girlfriend to work day

Today, after my full day of work, I went to hang out with my boyfriend at his office. He works for a cartoon studio and has been putting in some very late hours the past couple of weeks.

These are his two friends Tim (in the hat) and Sammy. They're the late night guys. Working hard into the wee hours. Making eachother laugh saying silly things. It was fun hanging out with all of them. It had that fun after-school feeling - when you're the only ones in a building that is normally bustling full with people. I don't know if bustling is a word.

This is the inside of Phil's cubicle. He's got a lot of inspirational material on his walls - some drawn by him - some by other artists.

More from this later.....

Loft Day

We got the keys to our loft today! This is a view from the rooftop.
It's a little under 900 sq. ft. We're gonna have to downsize a lot - but we've been needing to anyway.
This is my boyfriend Philip standing in the main part of the loft.

That's the kitchen area back there, and down the hall behind him is the bathroom and a little alcove for the bedroom.

Random

This is the weird thing about living in LA - or anywhere I guess. I'm driving to the gym yesterday, and I randomly wind up behind my brother at a stoplight. He's my personal trainer so we were going to the same place! Funny.

Stamps

I've found myself getting back into rubber stamps lately. I got these two Japanese mon stamps at Paper Source the other day. My boyfriend loves them too.

I made this little notebook for myself using a persimmon stamp on printer paper.

Cloth Market Bags

I've been making these cloth market bags for a while. They're exactly like the ones in the grocery store, except made of fabric. I use em for everything - gym clothes, lunch, magazines etc.
That's my label, Ghetto Kharma. I' don't sell anywhere yet - but I hope to be soon. It was actually my genius brother's idea to do the label that way. It sort of mimics that flap of plastic that's sometimes left in the middle of those grocery bags.
I used this lovely vintage apple print fabric that I just love.
I entered this in Fred Flare's next big thing contest. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Hopefully I will have the Ghetto Kharma website up and running soon.

Offerings

Todays offerings from the garden. Not bad for one day. I will miss these rose bushes - but our new loft is 3 blocks from the Flower District - that'll have to do! It's funny how my dog is pretending to be well behaved here. I don't quite know what elicited this reaction from her - but I'm glad I caught it on film. Well off to meet my brother at the gym.....

Tomato Ketchup!

Went shopping with my mom tonight for some upcoming birthday presents. Found these cool egglings from Urban Outfitters https://www.urbanoutfitters.com. Should've gotten one for myself to try out though. Oh well. Also picked up a cool tealight glass lantern, and a retro tomato shaped squeeze bottle for ketchup!! I've wanted one of these ever since I saw it on an episode of Gidget (Sally Field version) years ago. That one is for me!

I'm loving this rain - I know most people don't. Everything is more fun to me when it rains - reading, eating, watching TV. Anyways, don't have much to write about today. I'm just packing while my boyfriend is working late. Just thought I'd leave you with some pics of my favorite Dahlias.

Rainy Days and Lofts

I can't believe I'm finally starting a weblog! I honestly don't know what took me so long. I am a fan of so many beautiful craft/art blogs - they inspire me everyday. What has finally pushed me into starting my own blog today is a combination of two things - a rainy Los Angeles day (my favorite) and, my boyfriend and I found out we got this downtown loft that we've been waiting for. The thought of moving (packing to be exact) is daunting, but I'm sooo excited!! How do I even begin to organize my sewing, knitting, soap making, potpourri stuff etc. Not to mention my glass animal collection! Well, I'm off!
